JTF PlasmaCycle: Circular Chemistry in Action

In South Limburg, Project PlasmaCycle is setting a new standard for sustainable chemistry. The project uses plasma gasification technology, reaching temperatures up to 6,000°C, to convert complex waste—such as car tires, wind turbine blades, and medical waste—into circular methanol.

Methanol plays a crucial role in the chemical industry as a base for countless products. By producing it from waste instead of fossil resources, PlasmaCycle drastically reduces CO₂ emissions and supports the transition toward climate-neutral production.

With the support of the Just Transition Fund, the project creates not only a cleaner process but also new green jobs and a strong foundation for the circular economy in Limburg.
